New House...and big news!

After enduring what I would consider the lowest point in our little family's life thus far (hearing the term "flood zone" still makes me cringe) there is a wonderful light at the end of that dark tunnel and we have settled into our new home!  We LOVE it!  We still have so much to do but we are enjoying the process of making it our own.  I don't usually like to stay home much, but since we've moved in I have really been more of a homebody.  It just feels good to be home.  Here a few pics of what it looks like so far:

Backyard..Our favorite thing about the whole house!  We have so much we want to do to make this backyard the best hangout spot in town!

Michael's "Office"
It's actually a big closet under the stairs.  It makes everyone laugh that sees it!  But it really is functional to just hold office stuff!

Playroom.  Keeping it real here people, this is what it looks like most of the time.  There is about 10 minutes after I spend an hour cleaning it that it looks good but I can't seem to get a picture of it when you can actually see the floor.  Oh well. I also have a great space for my sewing in this room!

We have been pondering the idea of adoption for more than 2 years now but the timing just hasn't been right..until now!  Now that we have more room and we finally got Gray potty trained (thank you Jesus!) we began the process to adopt through DHS back in March.  It has been a grueling process with mounds and mounds of paperwork, weeks worth of parenting classes, applications, background checks, doctor visits, home studies, lots of preparation and even more prayer!  We finished our home study last week and we will hopefully hear that it is approved this week or next.  Once that is approved, we will just wait to get a phone call to say that they have a child or children for us to give a home.  We have been blown away with the support that our friends and family have given us as we tread into this unknown territory.  There are days when I'm so excited and so at peace about everything and then there are days when I think that the potential heartbreak we could face will be too much to bear.  We have comfort in knowing that we are doing what we feel God has called us to do which is caring for an orphan and even if the process doesn't go smoothly or just how we hope it will, then we are still doing what we are supposed to do.  Each time I volunteer at the children's shelter it is heartbreaking and eye-opening to see 80+ kids that are without a family to care for them.  Last week one little girl looked at me and said "I wish you were my foster mom" and I held a sweet newborn whose 15 year old mother is also at the shelter. Those are the stories that keep us going and make me so excited to make a difference in the lives of at least one or two of these children!

Easter 2013

Dying eggs..We did shaving cream and food coloring this time.  It was messy but fun!

Liv helped me make this peep cake. It was cute and YUMMY!

Dado made the drive to Owasso just in time for Easter.

Hunting Eggs with cousins at our annual fish fry at Pops and Grandma's.

Spring Break trip to Texas

Staci moved to Texas last fall so I was excited to finally get a chance to go visit her.  The kids and I went over spring break and we had a blast.

It was about a 7 hour drive so we stopped in Dallas to have lunch at the American Girl Store.

Liv brought Julie and Ivy along.

We got stuck in traffic and were about an hour late.  After 5.5 hours in the car and no lunch, Gray was a little cranky. He could care less about the dolls or the store, he just wanted food!

Liv was having a blast!

Whew, he perked up after he started eating!  He saw someone getting an huge ice cream sundae for their birthday so he told me he wanted to have his birthday party there.  I doubt that will still be the case come September.

I finally got to meet baby Tinsley!  It's like with my sister's kids, I love her like she's my own!

Joe is in the ARMY and Stace took us to visit the base.  It was really need and I couldn't believe how HUGE it was.  It's like a whole city there!

Katie came to town on Friday and it was soooo good to see her!  When the 3 of us are together, it feels like we are 13 again except now we are all grown up and we no longer talk like hicks.  In fact, Kate has developed a Brooklyn accent and it still cracks me up!

Since we were in Texas, we had to visit the Rodeo!  There was a petting zoo and OH MY GOODNESS these baby goats were the cutest things ever!

Don't you just want to squeeze him?

Then we watched a dog trick show.  T kept dropping her passy under the bleachers!

The kids rode a few rides.

And we ate a funnel cake, yum!

It was a good day!

The night before we left we put the kids to bed and left them with Joe so the 3 of us could go out to dinner.  It was such a fun weekend with them and I am so happy that through all these years our friendships have remained strong! You just don't have many lifelong friends like this.

Daddy Daugther Dance

Michael took Olivia to the Daddy Daughter Dance.  She was so excited to go!

Michael isn't much of a dancer but Liv kept him on the dance floor the whole time!  He said she had fun dancing with her friends too.

What sweet memories!

Christmas 2013

We had another great Christmas this year.

Always fun to help decorate the tree!

We looked at the Rhema lights in 70 degree weather,  It was wild!

And look who we ran into!

We took our annual life group trip to the Christmas Train.  This was our 4th year to go with them.  It is so much fun!

Christmas Eve at Grammy and Pappy's house.

They are so sweet!

Wonder if this will be our last Christmas as a family of 4?

Playing Headbanz, this is one of our new favorite games!  Gray is so bad when we play!  He'll look at your card and say "am I penguin?" and then you know exactly what is on your head.  Or he'll just come out and tell you, "you're a penguin" if you don't get it right after the first few questions.

Christmas morning.  Items on the list this year were pillow pets, ipod, games, Thomas Trains, Happy Nappers, Soccer Boppers, Transformers.

Gray got Thomas and the Pirate Cove from Santa

And Liv got an Ipod!
